I have been married 10 years as of yesterday. We have 4 kids, a house, 2 cars, a cat ( i wish was a dog), a white fence. We have an average income.  We go to church on Sundays, and raise our kids with values.  We pray. I own my own business because i can.  My wife is a full time mother. (the most nobel job in the world). After 10 years, we haven't even come close to divorce, and don't even have it as an option. We've had some downs, but mostly ups.  We work things out by talking. I love my wife too much to waste the 10 years we've had, and can't wait for 10 more.

I've had people (libs) tell me that my life is boring and that i'm close minded and don't know what i'm missing.

If they could only understand....

What Splitt is describing is similar to what I have; except for more years of marriage and I have a dog too. He's a black cocker spaniel and a great pet. The way I describe this lifestyle is heaven on earth. I also understand that heaven is rejected my many people by their own free will and choice.

I have to agree with Splitt. 13 1/2 years ago before my wife and I were married people said why do you want to do that just live together. We however didn't beleive that was right our choice i know. but the thing is when you just live together if you have a problem you don't have to work it out, it is easy to just leave. when you have a true commitment there are always ups and downs it happens to everyone. Plans change but you know I would have it any other way. in the last year my wife and I have lost 3 children to miscarriage(twins and then a single child) and my mother but even with how hard that was I am glad that we chose the way we did and I have my wife to go through these things with. I don't think I have missed anything in fact I think I have gain so much more by being married.

For better or worse can be a blessing in our society. I feel for Cougar. I have lost a wife and a child years ago and understand loss. Because of this, I can understand joy and happiness that much more.

Believe it or not, i have lots of friend that are "libs", that is how they define themselves. Other terms i like are Lefties, Moonbats, Hippies, and other various terms.
Personally i like it when people call me a NeoCon.  That sounds like a term from a sweet SciFi movie.

Since this is personal soapbox hour, I'd like to spill my guts as well, if I am allowed.

Obviously, based upon my "liberal" posts, you must already know that I beat my wife, and happily so. I dropped my dog off in the west desert cuz he ate too much of that good dogfood (stuff is expensive) and wouldn't go back to the cheap stuff, and I've eaten every child I've ever come across that was unattended. Usually with potatoes and spinach.

You need people like me, whether you like it or not. When I post, you get more comments, you get more interest, you get more hits for your blog. Knowing that there are around 50,000 blogs out there, and that the majority of them die a silent death within six months, you should consider that.

When I think of a lib, I think of somebody who treats their dog better than their spouse or kids. The dog has its own bed. Goes to the kennel during the day to socialize with other dogs. They eat dog food that is bought at a specialty store and overprices by about 5 times.

As far as the wife beating, you are talking about the southern democrate hillbilly type. This species is dying out though. Most southerners that fit this description are finding the error or their ways, repenting of wife beatings and voting Republican.

duke, you are always allowed to spill on SYM friday.  If you didn't, this site would be very boring. Although, i would have guessed you were in college, trying to make ends meet.  You consider yourself a musician, play guitar, and your wife is hot and has a sweet tat on here lower back.  Which all all good.  But there is more.

I agree with Hayduke about conversation on this blog. We need to have diversity to have good debate. I also think that Splitt already knows this and that is why this blog has lasted this long and will continue.

The cure makes me ill. Bono and The Edge hit the spot with me on most days. Steve Stapp and Creed on some others. My music is as diverse as my politics. Alan Jackson, Faith Hill and TK give me what I need on others. On sundays the MTC and Jenny Phillips fill in.

Hayduke is back!  Duke, what do you mean that this site has more hits when you post?  You haven't posted a thing on here in what, 3 - 4 weeks?  I can't compare with the rest of you: I've been married for 9 1/2 months, we're 10 weeks pregnant with our first.  I'm still in College and have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.  I've had loss in my life.  Things that I don't want to discuss here, but significant enough that I know that it was only with God's mercy that I survived.  

As for definitions of Libs... anyone who isn't conservative is a liberal.  On the flip side, anyone who isn't a liberal is a conservative.  To be honest, most people are moderates.  The political boat  of polarization is leaving a huge wake and there are a lot of people drowning, unrecognized in the middle.  Will we soon see a new party emerge?  The Republican party formed in 1854 because people who weren't Democrats didn't have anywhere to turn.  If I'm not a "Dem," and I'm not a "Rep," then where do I fit in the American Political scheme?  Chew on that one...

The QB situation is Dallas will continue to suck as long as the walking suicide bomb known as TO is in Dallas.  As long as The Tuna has to focus on TO, then he will not be able to build the team.  Someone please call Jerry Jones and convince him to let TO go!!!  Actually, let him stay... I hate Dallas!

My music is as closed minded as my political views.  ;-) Radiohead, Verve, Stone Roses, Oasis, The Smiths, and almost all other Brit Rock.  I love some of the stuff on now, like Death Cab for Cutie or Pinback. Jazz and Classical for Sundays.

Does anyone else want to know what i would call them? ;-)

Somebody finaly mentions Basketball. Why do we not talk about this? Is it because the Jazz suck. Somebody told me about 2 years ago that they stopped following basketball because MJ retired and the gangbangers took over the sport.

I wrestled for 13 years, got asked to train with the olympic team.  What am I supposed to do with that?  There isn't such a thing as going pro in wrestling (the real wrestling kind). Colleges are getting rid of it left and right. It was such a good sport.

That is about he last time i watched NBA as well.  Accept for the free ticket from work to the Jazz. I spent most of the time watching the Jazz bear and the guy that waves the chicken.

I also did the "real" wrestling thing as well as the effective dislocate, choke and kill kind. You have a point. How do we cheer our favorite schools when the libs are taking wrestling out of them? I find it interresting that anything that is hard is looked at as bad from the liberal point of view. Boxing is also a great sport. For a hundred years or more, West Point used boxing to help it's cadets learn to stand up under pressure and take hits while keeping a cool head. Now that is even under attack. President Joseph Fielding Smith encouraged his sons to box. He believed it helped them build character. I understand he may be a bad example for many people, but for me that takes religion out of the argument.

How could one not comment on a SYM of this magnitude!!  Sorry about not being too active this week, it’s been a little hectic with work and school, but I'm now looking forward to an increases level of Utah Patriot activity.  Okay first thing is first.  I'm ashamed....I actually believed that the Tigers, yes those Detroit bums had a legitimate shot at claiming the ultimate prize....well congrats Desechado...you and your Cards are this years "World Champions".  By the way do any of you find it interesting that whenever an American team such as the Cards or Miami Heat wins a domestic sports title we automatically claim the right to designate our team as "World Champions"?  By the way, what do we call it when we actually play and participate on the "world" scene and lose?  Oh I got it...how about Team USA!!!  

Pertaining to the earlier question in regards to what is or is not a liberal?  I would like to respectfully disagree with my fellow colleague...goosed you and state that the political spectrum is much too diverse to classify "all" as either being conservative, moderate, or liberal.  Remember within each one of these titles lies a vast arrangement of outlooks and belief systems.  And with that Splitt...I would love to hear your opinion of where I would be situated on that rather lengthy realm of politics.  

Oh and one more thing Splitt.....GO DUKE.  We are loaded yet again with another one of Coach K's all-world recruiting classes, not to mention we have Paulus and McRoberts coming back for their sophomore seasons.  

Desechado...how can you say the Jazz suck?  If you want we can go double or nothing to make up for my Tigers debacle.  Jazz will win over 50 games this year.  Assuming lets see....that Boozer, Harpring, AK-47, and D. Williams stay health!!

I didn't say that I think that Jazz suck. I was throwing out a question about a comment that I hear all the time. Nice to see somebody that believes in them. If what you say about them winning 50 games is correct, then some people would assume they will be playing 100 games?

Congrats Splitt....the site was a little slow the last week or so, but I'm hoping with the momentum gained today with SYM we will see an overall increase in activity.  HeyDuke we appreciate your comments...the only problem I have is that they don't happen with more frequency.  

I would love to see more voices and opinions heard on this site. I believe it already has served a great purpose in letting people such as myself express some of their personal and political views with a wider albeit unknown audience.  Thanks for the insight everybody.  I would encourage you all to keep it up!

Goosed, according the the "most posted on" blogometer on this site, I have been involved in three of the four most active blogs to date. That's not because I am so well loved, smell nice, or drive a sweet car. It's just because I disagree, usually. Anybody with a contentious viewpoint and a decent handle on the written language could do what I do here. Without contention, you have nothing. Nothing to raise the hackles and get people going, anyway.

The Federalists had their place just like the Democrates have their place now. Alexander Hamilton is possibly the most famous of them and won the $10 spot. I hate to see what would have happened to this country if he would have had his way with the government in the 1780's and 1790's.
