Don't you all hate it when a cashier at a convenience store makes your stop there not so convenient? A certain fountain drink may be out, but they refuse to change it. You ask if they carry a certain item and they look at you like you are stupid. I found a store that has such a cashier and he seems to be working whenever I go in there. Unfortunately, this store is the only one I know of that carries this certain type of fountain drink. Therefore, when I want it, I have to deal with this putz.

Where is it? maybe i should go there and see if i get the same service.  See if they don't like you, or if they cashier is just a lame duck.

I think their treatment of you is a reflection of thier oppionion of you...   I fear they regard you as an idiot.

I could be wrong but it is unlikely...

It is only this one cashier. A FedEx driver told me about this fountain drink they have there, and he has the same experience when he goes in the store, whether buying or making a FedEx delivery. The guy who wanted the other drink that was out was handled with the same tact that I was.
When this one cashier is gone, I have a pleasant experience at this store.
By the way, it is the Maverick on 3rd south and 5th east. This cashier looks a little like Elmu's Avatar.

I love it!  I wonder if there is some way to get a letter to the owner?  I am in Radio advertising.  I suggest somebody (splitt) goes in and impersonates an advertising salesmen.  Just walk in and say "I need to contact the owner about an advertising opportunity.  Could you provide me with an email address or some contact info?"  if they wont, then you leave your email and request that the owner contact you.

then let him know!

I would love to do it myself by I live in Idaho...

What is the fountain drink? i must try it.  Your advertisment of this mysterious drink has made me thirsty...

The drink is No Fear. It's great on the days your butt is dragging about two feet behind you.
I knew there was something I liked about Elmu. Idaho is a great place. That is were my wife is from and were most of our families live. What radio station?

I am extremely disappointed in BYU today.  I heard they were going to approve the anti-cheney protest on campus at BYU.  If you concider their policy on protests, and look at all the protest they have declined (protests good causes), i have to ask what liberal evil has creeped its way into the Y.

This will only result in unsult and bad press for their owner.
Desechado wrote re: Speak Your Mind Friday!

If they do, I hope this opens the can of worms that will allow more protests in the future. This could be Pandora's box.

That can has been opened:

Who ever "Warner Woodworth" is, is walking a fine line to the dark side, i bet he ends up fired in next serveral years because he will be involved in straying from Church teachings.  Just like Harry Reid.

Just ask the two of them if they support the churches position on gay marraige.

Second, this liberal Woodworth guy says, "he believes Cheney has history of lying and using profanity to describe other political leaders"...

Typical liberal... doesn't follow Harry Reid very well if he thinks he doesn't lie or use profanity.

Then Woodworth says this, "that inviting Cheney sanctions corporate greed, U.S. military aggression in the Middle East and "evil practices" such as torture and secret prisons."

Once again, forgets that these accuasation he is making against Cheney are speculation, and yet Dirty Harrys corporate greed and support of "evil practices" are well documented.

Since my Jayhawks went down in a blaze of glory with their thumbs up their backsides I will throw this out: If UCLA loses and allowes Florida to play Georgetown in the NCAA Final, I may have to go postal on UCLA!

No Fear is great, Des!

If Woodworth is worried about lying and using profanity then he should rule out all politicians. Tom Claney said it best in Hunt for Red October when the Secretary of State says ...I's a politician. Therefore I's a liar and a cheat. When I'm not giving babys lollipops, I'm taking them away as they turn their back.
As far as the war in the middle east is concerned, this is something I posted on this blog in September, 2006.

If you are interrested in looking at the General Conference reports that I got my information from just look at:
http://www.lds.org/conference/talk/display/0,5232,23-1-225-27,00.html
This is from the Sunday Morning October 7, 2001 Conference. Please note the following from this talk:
"Those of us who are American citizens stand solidly with the president of our nation. The terrible forces of evil must be confronted and held accountable for their actions. This is not a matter of Christian against Muslim."
"We are people of peace. We are followers of the Christ who was and is the Prince of Peace. But there are times when we must stand up for right and decency, for freedom and civilization, just as Moroni rallied his people in his day to the defense of their wives, their children, and the cause of liberty (see Alma 48:10)."

http://www.lds.org/conference/talk/display/0,5232,23-1-353-27,00.html
This is from the Sunday Morning April 6, 2003 Conference.
Please note the following from this talk:
"The question arises, “Where does the Church stand in all of this?”

First, let it be understood that we have no quarrel with the Muslim people or with those of any other faith. We recognize and teach that all the people of the earth are of the family of God. And as He is our Father, so are we brothers and sisters with family obligations one to another.

But as citizens we are all under the direction of our respective national leaders. They have access to greater political and military intelligence than do the people generally. Those in the armed services are under obligation to their respective governments to execute the will of the sovereign. When they joined the military service, they entered into a contract by which they are presently bound and to which they have dutifully responded.

One of our Articles of Faith, which represent an expression of our doctrine, states, “We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law” (Articles of Faith 1:12)."

"In a democracy we can renounce war and proclaim peace. There is opportunity for dissent. Many have been speaking out and doing so emphatically. That is their privilege. That is their right, so long as they do so legally. However, we all must also be mindful of another overriding responsibility, which I may add, governs my personal feelings and dictates my personal loyalties in the present situation.

When war raged between the Nephites and the Lamanites, the record states that “the Nephites were inspired by a better cause, for they were not fighting for . . . power but they were fighting for their homes and their liberties, their wives and their children, and their all, yea, for their rites of worship and their church.

“And they were doing that which they felt was the duty which they owed to their God” (Alma 43:45–46).

The Lord counseled them, “Defend your families even unto bloodshed” (Alma 43:47).

And Moroni “rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.

“And he fastened on his headplate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren” (Alma 46:12–13).

It is clear from these and other writings that there are times and circumstances when nations are justified, in fact have an obligation, to fight for family, for liberty, and against tyranny, threat, and oppression.

When all is said and done, we of this Church are people of peace. We are followers of our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was the Prince of Peace. But even He said, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword” (Matthew 10:34).

This places us in the position of those who long for peace, who teach peace, who work for peace, but who also are citizens of nations and are subject to the laws of our governments. Furthermore, we are a freedom-loving people, committed to the defense of liberty wherever it is in jeopardy. I believe that God will not hold men and women in uniform responsible as agents of their government in carrying forward that which they are legally obligated to do. It may even be that He will hold us responsible if we try to impede or hedge up the way of those who are involved in a contest with forces of evil and repression."

Great, speaking of bad press:

This topic made the Puff Post, the most liberal blog next to Kos.  They are praising the move by BYU.  They say this:

"This is coming out of one of the most conservative colleges in one of the most conservative states in the Union. If this isn't proof positive that the temperature is dropping for the Bush administration, I don't know what is."

It could be summed up by saying "even BYU is catching the liberal wave"

KBear for Monday through Saturday and KLCE for Sunday. Although, my wife and kids all listen to country so maybe they would agree with The Hawk instead of KBEAR.
Does KBEAR play any U2? Splitt loves U2. They are his favorite.

Bush said this about himself.  It made me laugh:

Looking ahead to life after leaving the White House, Bush said he might follow President Clinton’s lead and produce a memoir.

"I’m thinking of something really fun and creative for mine,” he said. “You know, maybe a pop-up book."

Possible titles: "How W. Got His Groove Back," "Who Moved My Presidency?" and "Tuesday with Cheney."

Not only does he have a sence of humor, but he knows who he is and acts the part. People make fun of him for some of his personality shortcomings, but he doesn't pretend to be something he's not.
The biggest laugh on the news I heard this last week was that the House is thinking of impeaching Bush. What for? Leading the country into a war? What about Wilson, Roosevelt and LBJ (especially LBJ).

Has anyone had any hands on user experience with Vista?  It seems that every report you read either says "it's great" or "There isn't enough there to make you want to leave XP" or "there are so many problems with Vista, buy a Mac."

Just looking for a first hand account.

I'm curious about this too. I'm thinking about buying a new PC, but I want to wait until I learn more about Vista.

I was on Microsoft Vista beta and have been running it for a year now.  I have it at my home running my media center PC with vista ultimate. I believe i have first hand experiance with Vista.  Personally I love Vista.  It is quite the change from XP.  Not a lot in the functionality, but in look and feel and search.

If you buy vista and install it on you XP machine, you may hate it.  If you have a new PC with a sweet video card, lots of ram, ect it will go great.

Any specific questions?

I can't add anything to the Vista discussion but I do love my Mac.  I am a techie too and switched over a year ago.

Maybe a dumb question but do all apps that run on XP run on Vista?

No. I have 2 programs that I use at work (where I use XP) that are incompatable with Vista.

I've got a new laptop that will run Vista just fine.  I'm just not sure that it's worth the upgrade.  I've seen the new Office Suite though and I'll probably get Office 2007 soon.
