30 years ago today Star Wars made it's debute in theaters. I remember the critics saying it would be a flop and as many people were as skeptical as that wanted to see it. I had to walk to the theater and watch it myself because nobody in my family or friends wanted to see it. They thought it looked stupid. Now they are almost as fanatic about Star Wars as I am. I wonder how much $$$ George Lucas has made over the last 30 years from the Star Wars theme?

I just saw the new pirate movie last night. It was good but it doesn't leave you with good or bad feeling after it is over. It doesn't turn out like you think. What I did like is that they tried to get back to the first movie but at the same time trying to explain the second movie. I still think that it was good.

The funny thing about it is that people were trying to dress up like pirates and act all "cool" in front of their friends. I know that people dressed up for Star Wars when the newer movies came out. What other films have people dressing up for the actual movie?

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I want to make some honorable mentions about great guitarists. I made some mention last week about Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac. As I listen to "The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac" this morning, there is no doubt in my mind that this guy knows the strings.
Another that I forgot to mention last week... Pete Townsend of the Who.

I don't agree with the "white British guys" are the bad guys remark. The Empire has too many paralels with Hitler's Nazi regime. The Nazi's ruled in a similar manner as the Empire. Case in point, the emperor hated aliens, but used them to further his cause until he found the oportunity to destroy them = relationship between Nazi Germany and Russia. Hate of aliens = hate for the Jews. Capitalism driving the ecomony of Nazi Germany = ecomomy of the Star Wars World. Storm Troopers = German SS troops. The list can go on.

The Influence of Star Wars on the film industry, well without Star Wars and the innovations of George Lucus companies, we probably wouldn't have movies like Shrek, Pirates, The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings. With each Star Wars film the film industry was moved forward in some way.

After star wars, lucas worked on Indiana Jones. This was one of the most popular movies trilogies during the 80's.

Speaking of that, what happend to Harrison Ford.  He used to be such a cool guy. What married for a long time, had a family. All his roles were awesome.  He was totally shy in all his interviews.

Mid-life crisis. I go through it every once in a while and so does/will every male. Too bad some good guys end up giving up their morals or going off the deep end during this time of life. I remember back around 1990 when he was proud of the image he had and that he would refuse to do movies if they were too racey for him.

Can you tell me who is in charge at the Justice department?

Alberto said he did not make the decisions on who to fire.

Carl Rove aka Bush said he did not make the decisions on who to fire.

Alberto 's Chief of staff said not me.

Goodling said she did not make the decisions, although she did say whoever was in charge crossed the well understood line.

So we are left to wonder who is running the justice department. Apparently no one.
Since no one is in charge (Alberto seems to have some sort of degenerative brain disease) I think the best thing to do is fire them all.

I think the Alberto Gonzalez issue is a bit strange. It could almost compete with Clinton's defining of "it". Certainly somebody (alberto) is holding back info - maybe to protect his own butt or maybe somebody elses (bush).
This article from the NY Times just goes to show that the repubs are as crooked as the Democrats. As I said before though, the repubs confess piety and the Democrats do not hide behind that mask.

Until you can explain why William (i hid illegal money in my freezer) Jefferson is still part of Congress and the House Ways and Means Committee, you can continue this debate.  Untill then, you have no arguement.

Spitt, The whitehouse appoints the attorney general. You may not realize that because as I've said in the last post there is no one at the tiller in the  justice department.  No one is minding the store. No decisions are being made in that vacuous place of power. That is why there are no dems being targeted.  Republicans have the whitehouse, bush, I think, appointed the current head of the FBI.  The whitehouse is responsible for enforcement of our laws. The repubs, had control of the congress for 12 years, So, logically since the repubs were in power and no democrats were nailed, it is the REPUBS fault. Wimps. Why did the REPUBS not act???????????????????

You are swimming not with sharks but more like conservative minnows,  but to answer your unstated question; the reason I am on when no one else is, is because I am fighting a vicious lawsuit, my mother has been very ill, my daughter is having problems with bi-polar and I am raising my 2 year-old grandson, and I was in the hospital with a heart problem that slowed me down. So the only time I tend to write is very late at night on rare occasions when I feel enough energy to think before I type.

If you can't hold your own with this group, then you are mentally deficient.  I had thought that the blog had shown the beginnings of some true discussion. I saw one topic with many posts that really caught my attention.  It was  a pleasure to read about something that actually made me think and re-consider my opinion. Spilt actually has written things that made me retract a statement because it was logical, well thought out and made sense.  Of course when he gets on the topics of evolution, rush, gays, and a couple of others that I consider blind spots or when he bashes dems as a group I ignore him. On the other hand I read what he says because he does make sense occasionally. As do some of the others.

You "retard" statement is an ad hominim attack which reflects more on you and says something about your maturity level.  You could have said, that you wish I was more visible to help defend certain positions, you could have left me a post that says the blog is in the middle of "X" and I think your opinion would help in the debate, or you could have sent me a note asking why an I a so infrequent a visitor, I like what you say and appreciate your support. You could have taken any number of higher roads, but instead you come up with a "Retard Award"  Hopefully, this "retard" comment of yours in uncharacteristic of  your true self, and was done in the heat of the moment. a passionate error. If not. come back and debate when you grow up.

I may disagree with the RatRep often, but the way he/she put Melkor in his place I love it. I have told him that his "retard" stuff was a bad idea and I'm glad that you gave your two cents worth.
Also, I do wish that you would weigh in a little more. You give me much to think about and I like debating what you say. Too many conservatives and not enough liberals make this blog a little less interresting. There are only so many times you can say that you agree with somebody. You and Melkor help me enjoy this blog a little more.

Melchor.   I did not say you were mentally deficient, I said if you cannot hold your own against this group you must be mentally deficient. Naturally you could have thought "that since I hold my own, I must not be mentally deficient." You chose to take it the other way, therefore you must think in some ways you are. I cannot control what you think, but I will not take the blame for something I did not say.

If I was asked, I would have said since you do hold your own you must not be mentally deficient.  I actually enjoy your posts and was giving you the benefit of the doubt. One difference between us is that you are a glass half empty sort and I am a glass half full kind of guy.

Another difference is that I actually read what you wrote and you did not read what I wrote. Let me use small words.   "I have very little time to write."  Eight words none over one syllable, all contained in one simple easy to read and understand sentence.

For the reasons why, please refer the the post above which you obviously did not read entirely the first time.

The third difference is that I have a sense of humor. :-)
