Remember playing Cops and Robbers as a kid?

Hat tip: Barking Moonbat Early Warning System:

Hat tip to the NRA/ILA; the story about State Bill 2810:

NJ BILL WOULD MAKE OWNING A TOY GUN ILLEGAL

BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

1. A person who sells, transfers or assigns an imitation firearm to a person under 18 years of age commits a disorderly persons offense; provided, however, that the establishment by a preponderance of the evidence of all of the following facts by the person making the sale, transfer or assignment shall constitute an affirmative defense to any prosecution under this section:
a. The purchaser, transferee or assignee represents his age by producing a driver’s license bearing a photograph of the licensee, or by producing some other photographic card purporting to be a valid identification card, indicating that he was 18 years of age or older;
b. The appearance of the purchaser, transferee or assignee was such that an ordinary prudent person would believe him to be 18 years of age or older; and
c. The sale, transfer or assignment was made in good faith relying upon the indicators of age listed in subsections a. and b. of this section.

2. This act shall take effect immediately.”

(An imitation firearm is defined in New Jersey’s firearm statutes as an object or device that is “reasonably capable of being mistaken for a firearm.” Right. Resonable by whom? People stupid enough to try and make this thing into law?)

See, it wasn’t enough to legislate the hell out of actual legal gun ownership. It wasn’t enough to pass laws that BB guns, bows, and even slingshots required a firearms ID to purchase. It wasn’t even enough demanding that all toy guns had a bright orange muzzle, or were only sold in shocking neon colors so that they could never be mistaken for the real thing. Nope, this desparate measure will outlaw even the toy ones, turning your children into criminals liable for a ONE THOUSAND DOLLAR fine.

Yeah, this bill will end gang violence alright. God forbid they actually catch the criminals instead. Numbskulls.

I wonder if water pistols fall under this asinine agenda? Wait, discharge of a water pistol is probably already an egregious waste of water, which would violate all the drought induced water restriction laws the state operates under most of the time. This state is loonie land.

Next on the list are going to be John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies. Then they will outlaw toy swords.
These guys think they are making it so that kids don't learn how to be a bad gun wieling outlaw. Maybe they need to realize that law abiding gun wielding voters learned gun safety and how to handle a gun when they played with their toy cap guns and where constantly reminded not to point the gun at anything you wouldn't intend to shoot and other gun safety laws. I've always stuck with the idea that it is easier to teach a child rather than reform an adult.

I can see it now... kids by the droves crossing over into New York and Philadelphia to buy the evil contraband known as squirt guns. I wonder if they are going to expand their juvenile detention centers to make room for all these thugs.

When i started having guns around the house, i called a family council.  We had a great discussion with my young kids about gun safety and removed the mystery and curiosity about the 'gun'.  I let them know why i have it and what it can do. I have taken my kids along, on shooting trips and even let them shoot a .22.

My kids are now smarter and better balanced that a majority of Washington, and a huge chunck on the American population.

Kids can either grow up, thinking guns are the tool of the evil and fear them, making them a weapon, or they can grow up thinking they are a tool to help protect and even provide some sport, and not fear them.

you know, personally i played Cowboys and Indians. I grew up in Idaho, spitting distance from a reservation.  I bet that is now politically incorrect.

Sometimes I think that people who live in Chubbuck and Blackfoot would like to play "cowboys and indians" with Fort Hall :) until the 4th of July when they need fireworks.

Ignorance creates the monster. My parents hate guns. Lucky for me I had a grandpa that hunted and loved/understood guns. When I was a todler, my grandpa started buying me a cap gun every 24th of July with the holster, chaps, vest and cowboy hat. He helped me understand guns and not fear them like my parents. I also had some good friends with parents that took the time to teach all of us in the neighborhood gun safey and respect. By the time I joined the army, I was adept at shooting and didn't need much training. I was also surprised at the number of trainees that didn't know jack about guns and ended up getting themselves or others hurt because they did stupid things with their weapon. These trainees didn't have any introduction to firearms during their life until BRM in Basic Training.
All we need is more moron gang members who really don't know guns to be the only ones to have them. Then maybe the gun hating Dems will feel "safe".

I didn't find out until you mentioned that you grew up within spitting distance from the reservation. I know Idaho well. Your talking about where my wife is from and where both mine and her extended families live. Spitting distance from the reservation would put you in Blackfoot, American Falls or Chubbuck--but most likely Blackfoot or Chubbuck.
