The UN can't handle free speech

The UN wants to ban bloggers and other fair news organisations from thier 'oh so honest' meetings.  Only the liberal anti american MSM covers the UN to there liking.  An the US funds the UN why?

UN Resists New Media, Minutes Show, as UNDP and WHO Refuse to Answer Questions

Byline: Matthew Russell Lee of Inner City Press at the UN: Media Analysis

UNITED NATIONS, July 28 -- In late June in Madrid, the head spokespeople for 37 UN agencies met and planned how to best communicate the work of the UN to a worldwide audience. While claiming to want to engage with new media, including blogs, a UN summary of the meeting obtained by Inner City Press shows a proposal by at least some UN agencies to exclude any media without a traditionally hierarchical editing process -- that is, to exclude blogs and most participatory media.

While the minutes blandly record the UN Communication Group's intention to continue to monitor the issue, multiple sources say, and experience confirms, that at least three UN agencies at that time adopted a policy of no longer answering any questions from Inner City Press, described by the New York Times of April 30 as the only blog accredited at UN headquarters. So much for engagement with new media, said one UN communications professional requesting anonymity in order not to lose their job.

Can't help but think that the UN is trying to hide something. They are like any other political think tank and now refusing to answer questions by a blog. This is what we see throughout history, try to supress the people's knowledge and create your own world order. I guess that free speech isn't common amongst other nations and so why should the UN be any different?

i would guaranteeee that the UN is hiding something.  If the Dems would launch an many investigations into the UN as they do the Bush Administration, they may actualy find something.  Something criminal, at least.

I don't think they are hiding anything. Most of us already know what they do to support radical governments or governments that have human rights at the bottom of their agendas. We all know how they feel about Israel and how they support countries that would fight against her. We all know how they feel about the US and it's foreign affairs.
I think they want to control information. This is the key to power. Our founding fathers understood this. This is why information is in the hands of the people of our country instead of being controlled by the government. This is why the 1st ammendment exhists.
