unfriendly water

Before i make these comments, let me say i find Sen. Craigs actions rehensible and pathetic.

now, back to business..

Is it just me, or do politicians act just like sharks in a feeding frenzy?  As soon as they smell blood, they just go for it. They love to tear people apart, hoping that they will get some of the left over power left by the victim.

Do you remember the scene in The Dark Crystal, when they all turn on that one creature, and tear all his robes off, and leave him for dead.  That is a pretty good animation of our current House and Senate.

via Redstate:

Senate Republican Leadership has just announced that Sen. Craig (R-ID) will be stepping down from his position as ranking member on the Veterans' Affairs Committee.

Furthermore, Senators McCain (AZ) and Coleman (MN) are currently calling on Craig to resign.

So far, there has been no statement from the Senate GOP leadership on that topic.

While I agree with Splitt that politicians act just like sharks, I think the Senator was stupid to plead guilty to try and end this, the officer's report claims he gave a signal, he didn't speak, no money changed hands. I think if he was intending to engage in some sort of sexual conduct that is pathetic and very bad.  The problem I have is he plead guilty to misdemeanor not at all sexually related, So because of the misdemeanor he should resign? While I disagree with his actions if the evidence was strong enough they would not have plead him out with a misdemeanor that was not sexually oriented. I just find many problems with how this is being handled.

The issue isn't that Sen Craig committed a misdemeanor. The issue is his judgement and the dishonor his judgement brought to the GOP.

We need to include the media in with the sharks. They are all over this one all week; trying to smear the GOP.

Scroll down to Tom Delay's interview with Matt Lauer. See how Matt tries to stear the conversation in a way to smear the GOP while Delay keeps things in perspective. Interresting....

The media should be included very true and yes he did dishonor himself and his family but that is it. He did not dishonor the GOP he is one person and the dishonor is his and his alone. The only reason this is an issue is because he is part of the GOP and not a Dem. He showed poor judgement both in his actions and his handling of the situation. But lets leave it at that. It is now up to the citizens of Idaho to determine if he should continue to represent them in the senate.

I think we should start a movement to vote everyone out of Washington and start fresh.  If we leave anyone, thier secret deals, secret head nods, secret partnerships will still exsist.  We need to send a whole new batch of actual leaders to washington, that don't know the corrupt traditions of the current politicians. Ones that don't understand the "must follow my party" mentality.

The longer they've been there, the more they've leared the system.

You know what that means, Thanks for your service Hatch and, but it's time for someone with less power. [sic]

when power comes, corruption usually follows. however, the experience and influence that some of these senators and congressmen have is something we may not want to do without. I may not like or agree with sen hatch, but we all have to admit that his experience and influence in the senate over the last 30 years has been an asset to utah.

as far as this shark thing, what comes around goes around. back in the 90's you guys didn't complain when clinton was under the microscope. many of you cheered and hoped for him to be removed from office. if you didn't, you hoped that the scandals would darken the view of americans towards the democrats and that the GOP would gain more power in the house and senate.

What Clinton did was just as dispicable as this senator, maybe worse because he actually did something then lied under oath about it. The Difference between the two is Clinton committed purgery and was Disbared because of the purgery. Clinton didn't plead guilty to a misdemeanor, He lied to the court, his wife and the entire country. What Goes around comes around is just a bad excuse for poor behavoir.

The clinton witch hunt was based on clinton's moral's and extra marital activities. during this time the GOP came across as a holyer-than-thou group and now we are seeing that they have skeletons in their closets too. the mistake the gop made was to take this high moral ground stance when they shouldn't have.

I agree with both of you. The GOP has come out as hypocrites, but as Cougar has said, "What Goes around comes around is just a bad excuse for poor behavoir." Sometimes I wonder if we worry too much about the personal lives of our elected officials and not worry enough about their capabilities as law makers or leaders.

Which is why we should get rid of all of them, Reps and Dems.
