Is this the best we can do?

Spitzer was "client 9" in a prositution ring.

His replacement is admiting to an affair.

Idaho Senator likes men in public bathrooms.

Bill Clinton... well,   is Bill Clinton.

I could go on, and on, and on.  Republican and Democrat alike.

Is this the best we can do?  Is these the people who chase power?  A true sign of a failing Washington is thier failing personal intergrity.

I was thinking of posting something along this line today too. One you can add is a presidential contender who has a wack job of a religious leader/advisor who hates America.

Although I'm concerned about the integrity of Washington, I'm more concerned about the Economy. I'm concerned about gas prices. A sub-prime company (Bear-Stearns) is finally facing the consequences of catering to easy money for those who shouldn't have been given loans. How is this going to affect the financial world when the 5th largest financial institution in the US (Bear-Stearns) crashes.

I'm thinking that these things are more important than how much it costs to hire a call girl in Washington.

I think the result of the crashing economy is in direct connection with the integrity of washington and business leaders.  If they have a lack of integrity, it will show up in other aspects of thier life.

The same person who is corrupt and causing gas prices to skyrocket, is the same person who is disrespecting woman.  The person who lacks the integrity to be loyal to his wife, lacks integrity.

To often we think that someone can lack integrity in one aspect of life and not in another. The fundamental flaw is that the lack of integrity a whole.  It may not have presented itself yet in other areas, but will.  In fact the better way to look at it is, if they show lack of integrity anywhere, it exposes thier true self.

I agree with you. The problem I have is that the way the media has been handling this is by either glorifying or diminishing the seriousness of infidelity and lack of integrity. What we are hearing now is how much a young woman can make in an illegal industry and that infidelity must be okay and common because the Lt. Governor has the same problem.

Splitt is correct a lack of interity in one aspect of one's life is a show of the true self. I also think Desechado is correct as well that the media is both glorigying and diminishing the seriousness of infidelity and lack of integrity. As a country we a on a slippery slop and picking up speed as we continue the moral decline.

Agreed.  The classic example is the Clintons.  Hillary down played her husband's issues like it was no big deal.  The media said, oh that is his "personal life" it's doesn't mean anything about the president.  The media totally downplayed it.  But as we all know, the Clintons character is majorly flawed, which effected the presidency.
