I wondered why i have a happy marriage?

Apparently the advice for "always marry up", only applies to men.

I don't know splitt, I would have to say there is more to it than just "marry up" While I would agree that men tend to Marry up, and looks tend to be more important to men than women.

Many other factors do play a part in a happy marriage not just looks.

I think too much focus is on looks and not enough on compatability, committment and maturity. Unfortunatly, we have too many 20 to 40 year olds who are still in their teen years. Friends and fun are too important and they are not willing to compromise these to have a long term, happy relationship with a spouce.

Deshechado, you nailed it.  I know a lot of guys who, while deep into a relationship, want to still hang out with fiends and to thier "own" thing every night and Sat.  Don't get me wrong, i enjoy a good "guy movie night" ever few months.  But when i get home from work on a daily basis.  I am a father first.

I agree going out with just the guys every now and then is fine, but not all the time like many now are wanting. This goes for the women as well getting out with the girls is good. One of the lessons I learned from my parents is that my mother always came first with my dad, he was first a husband then a father. He always treated my mother with love and respect. My dad would get out and do things with the guys sometimes and my Mom would go out with her sisters and friends sometimes and they were married for 42 years when my mother passed away and they were happy.
I like to go golfing with the guys it can be alot of fun, but I like to go with my wife more we have a lot of fun when we go as well. We get time to enjoy ourselves and talk while we are golfing.
